Food contact material, the English abbreviation FCM (Food Contact Material), refers to a class of materials that have been or will be in direct, indirect or possible contact with food, but are not themselves food. Common products include various types of food packaging, tableware, kitchenware, and processing equipment, as well as auxiliary materials such as binders, printing inks, and colorants for these products and materials.
The European Union and some of its member states, the United States, China, Japan, South Korea and other regions have their own regulatory systems to ensure the quality and safety of food contact materials and products, and have made very strict regulations on various food contact materials. Products exported to various regions must pass corresponding tests and obtain qualified product test reports, also known as "food grade tests".
